Simora provides a number of tree and shrub services including pest and disease control, organic plant care, and weed prevention.
From mid-April through May, the winter moth larvae (a green inch worm) devours the leaves of deciduous Oak trees, Maples, Birches, Crabapples, and Blueberry. Defoliating these host plants causes severe stress because the leaf is the energy source of the plant. Within a few years of severe stress, the plant may die.
Timing for treatment is important. The larvae begin inside the buds of trees or plants and become free-feeders once buds are open, around mid-April or soon after. The sooner a spray treatment is made after buds open, the better damage can be controlled. We have the necessary tree-spraying equipment for reaching the height of mature trees.
Mosquito and Tick Control
In addition to being pests, mosquitoes and ticks are known for carrying diseases such as West Nile virus and Lyme disease. They can be harmful to you, your family and your pets. We can solve your pest problem safely and effectively by providing a healthy environment for you and your family. We can also create a mosquito barrier by applying a garlic-based liquid treatment that repels mosquitoes, gnats, and black flies. This treatment lasts 3 to 4 weeks and is safe around children, pets and plants.
Organic Plant Care
Organic treatments will help your trees and shrubs grow healthier roots. Organics improve soil health, and ultimately, plant health. Give us a call for a consultation.
Insects can be devastating to trees and shrubs. Let us help solve your current problems and implement preventive measures. Two popular insects we treat for are the Wooly Adelgid on hemlock trees and Lace Bugs on common shrubs.
Weed Control and Prevention
Weeds are an ongoing problem in mulch beds and stone beds and can make an otherwise vibrant bed look less than attractive. With our two- or three-step program, we will give you excellent control of weeds in your beds.
